Royal British Legion

Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, but also about those involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today. This year, as always, British troops have been posted to the forefront of some of the world’s most dangerous trouble spots and they may need our help in the future. If they do, they know we’ll be here for them.
As well as providing immediate welfare care, we are also the Nation’s custodian of Remembrance, ensuring that the nation continues to pause and reflect every November, so that the sacrifice of those who fought, and are still fighting for our freedom, is never forgotten.
Poppy Support is the name for all the Legion’s welfare services. Despite the fact that we spend over £75 million each year on welfare, there are still a huge number of veterans and dependants who are in need, often because they are unaware of the help we can offer. We want to make sure we reach as many of them as we can.
Our welfare services are split into several categories:
Poppy Funds, Poppy Advice, Poppy Homes, Poppy Breaks, Poppy Travel, Poppy People and Poppy Calls

Any profits from the event will be donated to a specific project to help those serving on current operations. This will be announced by The Royal British Legion, the Tattoo’s official charity.
The Royal British Legion is increasingly being called upon to deliver Poppy Support to a younger generation of serving and ex-Service men and women and their families. It also helps service families with advice on benefits, money and careers in Civilian Life. The Legion is also piloting a number of schemes aimed at the younger generation, including Under 18s Adventure Breaks for children of serving and ex-Service people and Families Breaks at some of our Poppy Break Centres around the country.
